TerBeest, Kurt Eric

Kurt Eric TerBeest, 42, of Markesan, died Friday, September 7, 2012. Kurt was born August 7, 1970 the son of Jerald and Dianna Schlieve TerBeest. On February 23, 1991 he married the love of his life, Robyn Schouten, in Alto, WI. Kurt lived a full life as he enjoyed his passion for darts, bowling, playing golf, racing, driving his Mustang, hunting, and fishing.

He loved spending time with his family and friends at their cabin up north snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and just hanging out around the bonfire. Kurt was dedicated to his community and was an active member of the Markesan Lions Club where he served as president. He was an alderman for the City of Markesan. Kurt and Robyn built and owned their family business, KT Motorsports of Markesan.

Kurt is survived by his loving wife, Robyn; a son, Brice TerBeest (special friend Kelcey Symons); three daughters, Miranda TerBeest (fiancé Adam Berndt), Kaitlyn TerBeest, and Meaghan TerBeest; his parents, Jerald and Dianna TerBeest; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vernon and Roxy Schouten; two sisters, Traci (John) Doxtator, and Jodi (Jamie) Patterson; nieces and nephews, Xander, Gavin, and Kyra Patterson, Drew and Gabby Doxtator, Luke Olson, Nate, and Trevor Schouten, Allyssa and Kayla Schouten, and Isabelle and Claire Paulsen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kim (Lee) Paulsen, Kevin (Lainy) Schouten, and Chris (Judy) Schouten; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be remembered for living life with enthusiasm and all who knew him were touched by his generosity.

Kurt was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Bertha TerBeest, Harold and Margaret Schlieve, Harvey and Geraldine Schouten, and Henry and Jeanette Boerson.

Funeral services for Kurt TerBeest will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Rev. Gary Zacharias officiating. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Tuesday at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

I'm so very sorry for your loss... I wish there was more I could do or say so I thought I'd share a Kurt story. A few years ago I was having some car problems. I lived Oshkosh and had taken my car to a car dealership for repairs. Yeah... not too smart. I took my car there 3 times and it still wasn't fixed. I called my dad and he had said the only honest mechanic around is Kurt TerBeest. Brought my car to Markesan... dropped it off... was called shortly after and it was fixed and I didn't have to bring it back 3 times. He did it right the first time and even though he could have swindled me for a profit he didn't. He did laugh quite a bit when I told him what the other place wanted to do and charge. He said next time just bring it here.
Our community has lost such a great guy... and I am truly sorry and send my deepest sympathy to his entire family. Many prayers are being said for each and every one of you.
