David Vachon, Jr.
formerly of Leominster and Gardner; 30

David Vachon, Jr., passed away on August 5, 2018, surrounded by those who loved him, after a hard-fought battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was 30 years old.

David was born on March 31, 1988, just 18 minutes short of April Fool's Day. He attended schools in Leominster, MA, then moved to Gardner, MA, where he developed his muscial talent of playing the trumpet from 4th grade through to high school graduation from Gardner High School. He played Taps during annual Memorial Day ceremonies, spring concerts, two Central District music competitions and annual MICCA high school marching band competitions. He also played in the Fitchburg State University's jazz band, under the direction of Michael LaCava.

After graduating from Gardner High School in 2006, he went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Biotechnology at Mount Wachusett Community College. David traveled the globe, going to Europe, the United Kingdom, Iceland and Australia. He loved the outdoors, hiking and biking wooded trails with his friends and his beloved dog, Daisy.

David leaves behind his parents, Michelle and David Vachon, Jr., of Leominster, MA, sister Andrea Thai and brother-in-law Kien Thai of Everett, MA, his love, Emily Hornsby and her parents, Pat and Nicole Hornsby of Auburn, ME, and Ben Hornsby of Dorchester, MA, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his maternal great-grandparents, his paternal and maternal grandparents and two parental uncles.

Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in David's memory be made to DanaFarber Cancer Institute, Brookline, MA.
