Gary W. Sicard, 71
Dedicated Husband, Father and Grandfather

FITCHBURG - Gary W. Sicard, 71, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 after a period of declining health.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Kathleen E. (Robuccio) Sicard; one daughter, Lori Shea and her husband Greg of Fitchburg; two grandchildren, Abigail Shea and Michael Shea both of Fitchburg and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters, Janet LaClair and Barbara Deitzel.

Gary was born in Leominster, on July 30, 1946 a son of the late Wilfred and Lucy (DeCarolis) Sicard. He graduated from Leominster High School and served in the US Army, during the Vietnam War, stationed in Korea. Gary was a Human Resources Director for Digital Equipment Corporation for over two decades. He also worked at Corning and General Scanning as a Human Resources Director.

He was a very talented musician who began his music career in high school. He played in several local bands and was proud to play at Lori and Greg's wedding. Gary was also an avid fisherman, enjoying many trips with friends and family. One of his greatest accomplishments was teaching his beloved grandchildren, Abigail and Michael, all the tricks of the trade. He also enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to tie flies and build fishing rods. For many years he was a coach of local youth hockey, basketball and softball teams.

He was a devout Bruins and Patriots fan. His greatest joy came from his two grandchildren, whom he adored. He attended all of their school and sporting events including baseball, softball and hockey. Gary was known to brag about his grandchildren and their successes.

He was a member of The Leominster Sportsman Club, the South Fitchburg Hunting and Fishing Club, the Coast Guard Auxiliary as well volunteering for many years for the American Cancer Society.

Gary's family would like to express a special thank you to his doctor, Dr. Michele Parker of Heywood Hospital.

SICARD - His funeral will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, MA, with a mass at 12 Noon in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 84 Salem Street, Fitchburg, MA. Burial will follow with Military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, 486 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg, MA.

Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions may be made in Gary's name to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or may be left at the funeral home.
