RICHIBOUCTO-VILLAGE, NB - Gerard Maillet, 92, of Richiboucto-Village, New Brunswick, formerly of Leominster, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at the Rexton Lions Nursing Home in Rexton, New Brunswick on Friday, July 6, 2018. Born in Cap Lumiere, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Valentin and the late Suzanne (Zion) Maillet. Gerard attended St. Antoine de Padoue Roman Catholic Church.

In 1953, Gerard moved his family to Leominster, Massachusetts where he worked in the paper industry (Fitchburg Paper Company and Falulah Paper Company) for 21 years. In 1974, he accepted a managerial position with Laurentide Chemical in Richibucto and moved back to Cap Lumiere with his beloved wife Rita. In his spare time, bowling and golfing were his passions.

Gerard will be sadly missed by his son, Donald of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughter Alveta Bastarache (Gerard) of Clearwater, Florida; special grandson Marc Bastarache (Kimberly) of New Port Richey, Florida; one brother, Zoel Maillet (Diana) of Richibucto, New Brunswick.

Gerard was predeceased by four brothers, Freddie, Ferris, Ernest, and Edgar; two sisters, Laurette Mazerolle and Rosie Maillet, and several nieces and nephews.

MAILLET - Resting at Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 4:00 p.m., Thompson's Funeral Home Chapel, Richibucto. Donations to the Stella Maris Hospital or donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. The family wish to express a special thanks to cousins Diane & Richard Guimond for the care they provided to our father in our absence. Arrangements are in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto, NB (523-4252).
