NEW IPSWICH, NH - John W. Johnson, 58, and Heidi G. (Roberts) Johnson, 57, of New Ipswich, NH, formerly of Townsend, died Thursday evening, January 10, 2019, in Epping, NH, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident that evening.
John was born in Groton, February 21, 1960, the son of Beverly R. (Maggs) Johnson and the late Willard L. Johnson and resided most of his life in Townsend before he and Heidi married in September 2001 and moved to New Ipswich.
John was a 1978 graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend and then continued his education at Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner and later at the Municipal Police Training Council Academy.
For nearly 40 years John worked as a police officer in the Town of Townsend, retiring as a Sergeant in July 2018.
John enjoyed cooking, scuba diving, woodworking and played the bagpipes.
In addition to his mother of Townsend, he leaves three sisters, Kathleen J. Dempsey of Foxboro, Jennifer L. Hunt and Rebecca S. LeBlanc both of Rindge, NH.
Heidi was born in Ayer, September 29, 1961, one of seven children born to the late Fred S. and Joan E. (Wilson) Roberts and was a 1979 graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School. She had worked many years at the Hannaford Supermarket in Rindge, NH.
Heidi enjoyed lighthouses, llamas and camping. But most importantly Heidi's family was her world. She was there for all her children, siblings, especially being her sister Linda's guardian, all with unconditional love.
She leaves two sons, Darrell Gyles of Mason, NH, Erik DeBettencourt of New Ipswich, NH; two daughters, Carrissa DeBettencourt and April DeBettencourt both of Ashby; three brothers, Fred S. Roberts Jr. of Maine, Michael D. Roberts of Townsend, Dennis W. Roberts of Leominster; three sisters, Bethany J. Molter of Ashby, Linda L. Roberts of Keene, NH, Margaret E. Strickland of Newport, NH and three grandchildren, Violet Gyles, Gabriel DeBettencourt and Noah DeBettencourt.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Friday, January 18th, at St. John's Church, 1 School Street, Townsend.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Townsend.
