Lance Corporal Ronald O. Valentin, USMC, 21 of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Okinawa Japan. Lance Corporal Valentin was born on February 13, 1997 in Passaic New Jersey. Sometime later, his family moved to Fitchburg, Massachusetts where he graduated from Fitchburg High School as a member of the Class of 2015. During his time at Fitchburg High School Lance Corporal Valentin was a member of the school's track team. After graduation, Lance Corporal Valentin pursued higher education at The University of Maine at Orono. Lance Corporal Valentin joined the United States Marine Corps on June 23, 2017. Where he served through the Delayed Entry Program. He received the Certificate of Excellence as a Member of the 285 Club, scoring a 291 on his physical fitness test while stationed at Paris Island, South Carolina. He also received The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and The National Defense Medal. On September 1, 2018 then Private 1st Class, Ronald O. Valentin was promoted to Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.

He loved playing basketball with his father Eric and his brother Wesley. He enjoyed his family time, PlayStation, going to the movies and studying marine Biology. His goal was to become a Massachusetts State Trooper or join the FBI after his service the United States Marine Corps. The greatest honor Lance Corporal Valentin had was being his mother's hard-working son and being loved by his siblings, nieces and nephews.

Lance Corporal Valentin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gloria Cruz and Israel Ortiz and his paternal grandparents, Orlando Valentin and Carmen Leon. He is survived by his parents, Gloria and Eric Curry of Fitchburg Massachusetts, three sisters Tashira Valentin, Ashley Valentin, Tanairi Valentin, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. One brother who is also serving in the United States Marine Corps, Reserve Private Wesley Valentin. One niece Anayliah Cormier, and two nephews Cayden Cormier and Adrian Arocho. He leaves behind many relatives, friends and loved ones.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at New Creation Community Church located on 59 Walnut Street, Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
