Keith Wilson Reeves
Melbourne, FL
Keith Wilson Reeves, longtime Brevard resident, passed away August 1, 2013 after a brief illness. Born in Chanute, KS to Olive Birdene and John Wilson Reeves on February 7, 1925, he served as an armed guard in the Merchant Marines and then in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He attended Emporia State College in Emporia, KS majoring in Engineering, and wooed Francine Lane whom he married on December 28, 1948. He was employed by the Boeing Corporation in Wichita before transferring to Cape Canaveral, FL in 1957 (KSC) where he worked on various space programs. He retired in 1980, but remained a consultant for many years. One of his most challenging assignments was overseeing construction of the Omega Communication System on Oahu, HI. He and Francine, a longtime stockbroker in Brevard, traveled and golfed their way through retirement. Francine predeceased Keith in 1998. Lucky man that he was, he reconnected with longtime friend, Margaret Anne Strahm. They were married on Halloween of 1999. Keith's children adored her since they first met her when several families gathered for a hurricane party for Hurricane Donna in 1960. Their marriage involved lots of travel including trips throughout Europe, Alaska and Hawaii. They were also involved in various area churches as Margaret shared her commitment to Christ with him. Keith is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Marti Reeves of Tunbridge Wells, England and Melissa Edwards (Dennis) of Maitland, FL; son, Daniel Wilson Reeves (Jenny) of Orlando, FL; granddaughter, Kirstin Reeves of Orlando, FL; grandsons, Darin Cornell of Atlanta, GA and Daniel Reeves, Jr. of W. Palm Beach, FL; stepchildren, Denise Howland of Tampa, FL; Teresa Kramer (Kim) of Tallahassee, FL and Doug Strahm (Linda) of Houston, TX; 6 step grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren. Family will greet friends from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home in Melbourne with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. Many thanks to my special angels of Health First Hospice nurses, Dorothy Higgins, Elana Davis as well as our CNA Danielle Dettmann for their loving care of Keith.
