Irene B. (Bardenhagen) Edison(1940 - 2012)

Irene Bardenhagen Edison, beloved mother and Oma, passed away on December 25, 2012. She was born January 14, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to her parents, Henry and Greta (Rickmers) Bardenhagen, and was raised in Flushing, NY and Northport, NY. She moved to Cocoa Beach, FL in 1977 after living in St. Louis, MO, Satellite Beach, FL, Alamogordo, NM, and Valencia, CA.

Irene received her Bachelor's Degree from Barry University and retired from EG&G at the Kennedy Space Center.

She enjoyed quilting and crafts, and was a founding member of Seaside Piecemakers Quilt Guild. Nothing made Irene happier than spending time in her sewing room making a special quilt or other hand crafted gift for a loved one. Irene's pride was her family and her passion was her sewing and quilting.

Irene was preceded in death by her brother, Hank Bardenhagen. She is survived by her children, Jill Edison, MD., (Carl Wilson), Kristin Edison and Craig Edison (Jamie Edison); two grandchildren, Dylan Cooper and Cooper Edison; sisters, Karen Bartolotta and Heidi Giordano (Mike Giordano); sister-in-law, Kathy Bardenhagen; brothers-in-law, Peter Edison (Marie Edison) and Charles Edison (Rhonda Edison), several nieces and nephews; and her special cousins living in Insel Fohr, Germany. Irene cherished her family very much.

Irene had many close friends. Thank you to all of you who were a special part of her life, you were very important to her.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. Her family will free her ashes in Northport, NY, where she had many fond memories with family and friends.
