Joseph Mitchell

Joseph Hamilton Mitchell, Jr.

Indialantic, FL

Joe is a Florida native, born in Clearwater, FL in 1930 and died Monday, June 30, 2014. He graduated from the University of Florida with this Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Joe was a true Gator fan and he and Lola had great fun with the rivalry between the Gators and Auburn War Eagles.

Joe served in the Army, traveled all over the world for telecommunications companies, and attended reunions with these many friends. He was an avid amateur radio operator and he and his ham radio buddies kept 2 schedules a week. He was Past-President of PCARS, Platinum Coast Amateur Radio Society.

As a beloved family man, Joe was husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle par excellence. He was affectionately called "Pops" even by his son's friends. Loved by so many family and friends, he was a true gentleman with a large heart and a compassionate soul that knew no bounds. He is greatly missed by everyone. He had a warm, friendly personality and was so strong, so smart, talented, and capable. He was a curious scientific man who was a self-taught avid reader about many, varied topics and subjects. He and John shared many video chats about computers, technology and the art of production with John's work.

Joe expressed his interest and need for spiritual guidance in the last few years and lovingly reached out to church and fellowship and study wanting to know about Jesus and the meaning of Calvary. We are truly blessed by a belief that is he walking with Jesus in his heart and God's love in his soul.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a funeral services immediately following at Hope Episcopal Church, 190 Interlachen Dr., Melbourne, FL.
