Marion Eileen Collins

Melbourne, FL

Marion Eileen Collins passed away November 4, 2013, in the presence of her loving family, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband Palmer Collins, and siblings Mark Panton, Edsel Panton, and Theda Shreckengast. She has three loving children, Catherine Murtha (Brian), Mark Collins (Kim), and John Collins (Bruce Schulman), as well as five amazing grandchildren -Kate, Kelsey, and Sean Murtha, and Donavan and Caiden Collins.

Marion was born and raised on the beautiful island of Grand Cayman, BWI, where she lived a joyous childhood until coming to the United States to attend college at Anderson College in Indiana, in 1953. It was there that she was "courted" and married her husband Palmer Collins, in 1955. The family resided in Melbourne since 1955, where Marion became very active in the community.

She was passionate about many organizations beginning with the Melbourne Juniors, Civic Music, and Junior League of South Brevard, and was an avid tennis player at the Eau Gallie Yacht Club with the Space Coast Tennis League for many years. During this time she also attained her Masters in Education from Stetson University, and was employed by the Brevard County School System for 18 years. She went on to remain active her entire adult life with The Haven, BSO, and the Women's Center, then the Women's Center Guild. The Guild was her main passion, and she was so proud of the women she worked with, some who were lifelong wonderful friends.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the love and support of dear family and friends, and in addition, would like to thank Dr. Lisa Duhaime for her exceptional care and guidance this past year, as well as Vitas Innovative Care, especially Chris Weadock.

A celebration of Marion's life will be held this Saturday, November 9th, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, at 11 a.m.
