What an awesome man. The Only good thing about going down to the old courthouse to pay my speeding tickets back in the late 70's-80's was too see Mr Ambrose, and get his polite lectures. I am sorry for your loss, but it was Heaven's gain. My condolences to a Great family.

Until we meet again Joe in God's Kingdom, rest my brother. Joe Ambrose Sr is one of the greatist men I have ever been associated with in lawenforcement, and personal life. See you soon my brother.

Joseph Ambrose was an exceptional man in every way. Born in Hawaii, he overcame incredible challenges resulting from losing his Mom and Dad by the time he 5. The children were split up and Joseph was sent to an orphanage. For several years, his older brother and sister worked hard to get enough money to buy a small house so they could give Joseph a real home. They did just that and Joe was so appreciative he worked every day shining shoes and mowing yards to help pay for the house. While mowing a yard one day, Joseph saw planes and heard explosions as he was personally witnessing the attack on Pearl Harbor. That day changed everything and he wanted to do everything he could for his country. A short time later, at the very young age of 16, he joined the Navy. Just weeks later, he was assigned to a “wooden subchaser” assigned to hunting down and destroying Japanese subs in the South Pacific, a particularly perilous duty. After World War II ended, he joined the Army and served during the Korean War. After that, he joined the Air Force where he served with distinction for 17 years. As an example of his outstanding service, in 1968, he was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery when he led a successful rescue mission into a hostile and enemy held territory in Vietnam after U. S. pilots had crashed and men were stranded and injured. After serving 24 years in 3 branches of the military and being involved with 3 wars, he joined the Sheriff's Office in 1972 where he served the citizens of Brevard County as a Bailiff and Court Deputy for another 17 years of faithful service. Joseph was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Looking back, it is hard to believe just one man could have done so much for so many. We have been blessed by God to know him.

Hey Dad- I was trying to get enough courage to send you this note. I am thinking of you every day and there will never be a day I don't. I miss calling you and just hearing your voice. I loved discussing world issues and our favorite football team the Gators. I went to the house and you were not sitting in your favorite chair and wasn't able to shake your hand and tell you I love you as I did every time. I'm sure you were watching the services how you were loved by so many and how you were honored. I want you to know that we all love you very much and miss you terribly! You are my hero and the best father anyone could ask for. And I promised I will take care of Mom and I will never let you down. I am proud to be your son...Your son and love always, Joe Jr.

My Heart is Truly Broken, for this man was one of the sweetest people a person could have met. In illness he was a champion caring for others before himself. God must have really wanted someone to run the courthouse upstairs. A large hole is in my chest, but we know the good Lord only takes the best.. Fly high Mr. Joe I loved you. Janice.
