Matthew Thomas Ryan, Jr.

Merritt Island - Matt passed away peacefully on September 13, 2018 at the age of 76. Matt was born on October 4, 1941 in Lynbrook, New York to Matthew T. Ryan Sr. and Frances Ryan (McJenkins). Matt graduated Massapequa High School in 1959.

Matt leaves behind his best friend and wife of 56 years, Dolores Ann (McGlone). Matt and Dolores met, married and raised their family on Long Island, in Massapequa, NY. Matt retired from the Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO) after 29 years and relocated to Merritt Island FL. in 1997. Once he relocated to Florida, Matt worked for Southern Pine Lumber for 18 years.

Matt is survived by his children Susan Tietje-Zucker, Ed.D. (Doug) of Southport, NC, Matthew T. Ryan III of Naperville, IL, John Ryan of Port St. John, Kim Boss of Merritt Island and sister Marilyn (Molly) Debiase. Matt is predeceased by his parents, sister Rosemary Kean, and brother Gerard (Gerry) F. Ryan of Ryan Reporting and daughter Debra.

"Pop" also leaves behind his adored grandchildren, his "Pals", Courtney & Cameo Tietje, Paulie, Kyle & Lauren Boss, Matthew IV & Lexi Ryan, and step-granddaughter Stephanie Zucker.

Matt made everyone he met feel like family from the time they met him, was always there to help and put others first. Matt spent many years volunteering for the communities that he resided in. Matt is the former treasurer for Sunset Lakes Home Owners Association on Merritt Island. Matt dedicated his years on Long Island volunteering as an athletic coach for the Massapequa Coast League Baseball and the Massapequa Soccer Club. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Massapequa Fire Department.

A heartfelt thank you to Health First Hospice for their care and support.
