Millard Godwin Obituary
Millard C. Godwin

Millard Corbett "Rocky" Godwin, was born on March 25, 1931 in Johnston County, North Carolina. Rocky died in his home on June 24, 2015 after a lengthy illness. His father, James Millard Godwin, passed away before his birth. He was lovingly raised by his deceased mother Lou Belle Corbett Godwin Davis and stepfather the late James Daughtry Davis. Rocky proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952.  He often said the Navy took him to places he could never imagine and showed him the world. It was during this time he met and fell in love with Jean Moser Godwin.  Rocky and Jean were married in 1952 and stayed happily married for 63 years until Jean preceded him in death on February 10th of this year. They remained devoted to one another until the very end.

Rocky earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tri-State University in 1955. He and Jean traveled from coast to coast while he worked in the phosphate industry. He was an active member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers until his retirement in 1992.

He is survived by his brother James D. Davis Jr, of Middlesex, North Carolina. Rocky is also survived by three children: Jeffrey Stuart Godwin (Jo), Richard Ewell Godwin (Donna), Diana Godwin Masker (Ralph), 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Rocky was a man of faith, integrity and unquestionable character. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
