Patricia Donovan-Francisco Obituary

Patricia Donovan-Francisco released the earthly restrictions and bonds of her bodily form on Thursday, October 11, 2012, after courageously battling melanoma for more than seven years.

How do you express the true value and impact that my wife's life had on those around her, with only a few sentences? How would you ever express all that, even in a paragraph? If I had to write a book about her, it would take a lifetime, and I would still be unable to fully express how closely we were connected, and the many different ways she touched me, taught me, and became me. So for others, I write the following.

Pat was a fiercely independent woman with a tremendous depth of character and soul that made her easy to love. As a mother she had the natural ability for giving unconditional love that started with her daughter, and extended to all in her family. She was extraordinarily gifted at being unselfish with her time, thoughts, emotions and feelings. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, and had a gift for making others laugh with her. She was slow to trust, but eternally loyal. She could make you think you were teaching her something… but it was you, who were learning the lesson. Some of her greatest joys were simple ones. A good meal at home with her family, playing and winning at Scrabble, and she loved to shop, shop, shop! Her life is an inspiration to those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her husband, soul mate, and best friend, Jim Francisco; her daughter, Christine Lawyer of Sebastian, FL; and niece, Nancy Donovan-Roberts of Washington, D.C.

She will be reunited with five of the other loves in her life that preceded her in death, her sister, Barbara Rentz; her mother, Gertrude Kemp; her aunt, Carol Gropper; her dog, Scout; and her cat, Miss Kitty.

A private "Celebration of Life" will be held for family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat's name to The Melanoma Research Foundation at or Moffitt Cancer Center Organization at
