Virgil J. "Mike" Grant

Virgil J. Grant (Mike), of Merritt Island, passed away Saturday morning, December 4, 2010 following a courageous battle with brain cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Caroline; devoted children, Nina and Nick; daughter-in-law, Cindy; granddaughter, Miranda; evil parrot, Jaws; brothers, James and Pat; three nieces; and countless friends around the globe.
Mike worked in Telemetry for fourteen years down range on the islands of Antigua, Ascension and Grand Turk. It was on the island of Antigua that he met the love of his life, Caroline Wilson. The couple moved to the United States in 1979 where Mike continued his work in Telemetry until his retirement in 2008.
Mike had a passion for life, and his beautiful spirit touched everyone with whom he came into contact. The grace and courage he exuded throughout his battle with cancer serves as an inspiration to all who knew him. In the words of the crew of the USS Enterprise, "Beam (him) up, Scotty!"
A service will be held Friday, December 10th at 11:00 am at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne.
