Walter Ostrowitz, Jr., 71, died Friday, October 28, 2011 at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Walter was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Merritt Island in 1972 from the Caribbean Island of Antigua.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sr. and Sophie (Rishkel) Ostrowitz and his wife, Donna Ostrowitz.
Walter is survived by his son, Walter Ostrowitz III; sister, Janet Connock; brother-in-law, Barry Connock; niece, Jolie Nobles; grand nieces, Nichole and Jennifer Nobles; and grand nephew, Brett Nobles.
Walter served in the
U.S. Navy as a communication specialist with the submarine service. He also dedicated the majority of his life to the Space Program from the Mercury Program through the Shuttle and International Space Station Program.
Walter was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching all sports, especially football.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 10:00am - 11:00am, with funeral services following 11:00am at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home in Cocoa.
