MELODYE LARSON TITUSVILLE Melodye Ellen Larson passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at home in Titusville Florida. Born in Milwau kee on March 25, 1953, Melodye is survived by her brother and his wife, Thomas and Kathleen Moerman, and sister Dianne Ward. Melodye was an inspiration to all who knew her. After she graduated from BCC, she was employed at North Brevard Library. Her volunteer activities include the Titusville Police Dept., Brevard Regional Associ ation for the Deaf and the Space Coast Center for Inde pendent Living. She was also a strong supporter of her favorite political candidates. As a person with disabilities, Melodye was a champion for the rights of people with disabili ties. She worked to install ampli fiers on public phones at shopping malls; taught sign language to local police and firefighters; encouraged the City of Titusville to install TDDs. Melodye served on the Advi sory Committee for the Handi capped to make public buildings more accessible, petitioning the mall to provide motorized scoot ers for their disabled patrons. Melodye fought bravely against her breast cancer, making awareness of cancer another crusade. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 206 S. Hopkins Ave., Titusville, on Friday,February 17th, (TODAY) at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer and to Hospice of St. Francis, 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville 32780. Melodye was a loyal friend and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville is in charge of arrangements.
