Jeannette Finch Obituary

On October 8, 2012, Jeannette Rollins Finch, at the age of 87, went home to be with the Lord.

She was born July 7, 1925 in Fuquay Springs, North Carolina, to Essie and Mallie Rollins, where she lived for the first 20 years of her life. During World War II, Jeannette was a court stenographer, travelling every day to Raleigh on the bus. It was in the bus station that she met a handsome young man in uniform. They exchanged addresses and corresponded throughout the war. Upon his return to the US, Bill and Jeannette were married in July of 1945.

Jeannette had the reputation of being able to "take trash and turn it into a treasure". Beautifully arranged flowers and decorated cakes were a testament to her artistry and creativity. She loved her house, and with her love and talents, she made it a warm and comfortable home.

During her lifetime, Jeannette was an active member of Indialantic Garden Club by the Sea, and of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. As a member of the Garden Club she won many blue ribbons for her floral arrangements. At Eastminster, she served at various times as Elder, Deacon, Stephen's Minister, and Bible Study teacher. At most Church functions, the flowers on the tables were a result of her work and creativity.

As a mother, Jeannette was caring, loving, and always there for her children. No one ever left the house without a hot breakfast, and you could always count on a delicious dinner at night. She spent many hours sewing clothes for her children that modeled the latest fashion designs.

Jeannette was a loyal wife of 66 years, a loving mother of three, a "prayer warrior", and one heck of a bridge player.

Jeannette is survived by her children, Larry Finch, Nancy (Barry) Kronman and Suzanne (Don Goering) Martin; and by her five grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel Kronman and James, Rolly and Meggie Martin.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 20th, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 106 N. Riverside Dr., Indialantic, FL 32903.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastminster Missions Committee.
