THOMAS HYMAN HUGHES, 81, formerly of Warsaw, and most recently of Sarasota, Fla. and Lake Wawasee, Syracuse, Ind. died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, following complications with pneumonia. Born in Muncie, Ind., he received his B.S. degree in marketing at Indiana University. He had a highly successful 25 year career at Zimmer and Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he retired in 1990 as president of the health care group. Survivors include son, Ted of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Elizabeth Krebs of Long Grove, Ill.; friend and soulmate, Stephanie Safford of Sarasota, Fla.; sister-in-law, Elaine Hughes of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; and his brother, Stewart.
