I was in the class of 61 and several of us gather monthly if not weekly. Almost every time By's name comes up with fond memories. We enjoyed seeing him at our class gatherings and we were fortunate to have crossed his path. Rest In Peace.

Dear Mr. Hey's family: I was so sad to hear this on the news last evening.
Mr. Hey was not only an amazing math teacher and basketball coach at North Side High School (class of 1985), but set an example of an amazing man who influenced the lives of those he taught and those he coached. Mr. Hey had been on my mind for a little while only to hear of his passing on the news last evening.
Thank you for all those whose lives that you influenced in your life.
Well done thy good and faithful servant, come and take your rest....

I was a math student of the coach. I have told my grandkids about his grace toward me in math class. He gave me a passing grade, undeserved. He recognized the amount of effort I put into the math work, but I simply could not pass a test. At the end of the semester, he called me to his desk and said, I believe the understanding is there and he gave me the lowest passing grade. I always have believed he wanted to save my grade point average. I have never forgotten his kindness.
