CARL WAYNE WEAVER, 79, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021, at his home in Fort Wayne, Ind. Born in Findlay, Ohio on Jan. 2, 1942, he was a son of the late Mack Hayden Weaver and Annabelle Ruth (Wehrle) Weaver. Carl married Patti Jo (Sherrill) Weaver on Nov. 10, 1984, sharing 36 years together building a life around their children and grandchildren. Many of their fondest family memories were created during trips to Casey Key, Fla. and Myrtle Beach, S.C. Carl worked for Food Marketing as a truck driver for 51 years with over two million safely driven miles. Although he enjoyed retirement, Carl did not sit still. He utilized his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to volunteer with Parkview Hospital driving their mobile mammogram unit. He continued to maintain his CDL and worked with Indiana Auto Auction and then drove for Penske Trucking until his passing. Carl loved to dance the jitterbug and was known for his outgoing personality as it was often said that he "never met a stranger." He also loved having coffee and breakfast with old classmates and staying in touch with lifelong friends. Carl enjoyed watching sports, was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and a lifelong IU Basketball enthusiast. Although he was a fan of many sports, his greatest joy was watching his sons and grandsons play baseball and football. Carl is survived by his wife, adult children, grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, along with brother, John M. Weaver of North Carolina, and sister, Mary Lee (Weaver) Morris of Texas. He was also preceded in death by brother, Roy Weaver of Indiana. Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, Ind. Carl's patriotism was evident through his passion for politics and his admiration for and support of U.S. veterans. Memorial contributions may be made to Shepherd's House of Fort Wayne or Honor Flight.
