DONNA LEE DeWITT SNYDER, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, surrounded by her husband and daughters. Born in Columbus, Ohio on Feb. 28, 1939, she attended Bexley High School and Ohio State University. In Donna's younger years, she was an athlete - equally at home on a diving board, in a swimming pool, on a tennis court or playing field hockey. While visiting her sister at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas, Donna met her future husband, Herbert C. Snyder Jr. They wed on Aug. 1, 1959, in Coronado, Calif. Donna was an outstanding wife and mother to four daughters and dedicated herself to their care and the care of countless friends and family members. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, gardener, decorator, tennis player, sailor and a source of endless fun and laughter for her family. Donna will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Herbert Snyder of Fort Wayne; and daughters, Karen (William) Black, Kathryn Bond, Kristin (Bill) Schneider, and Kara (David) White. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, David, Austin, Michael and Julia Black, Charlotte and Cody Bond, Greyson and Isabel Schneider, and Alexandra and Christopher White; an older brother, Louis Napoleon (Nancy) DeWitt III of Westminster, Calif.; and brother-in-law, Bruce Snyder of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Napoleon DeWitt II and Virginia Boggess DeWitt; and sister, Lois DeWitt Zemp. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 450 W. Washington Blvd., Fort Wayne, with a celebration of life to follow.
