DOROTHY ELAINE "DOTTIE" (CARRIER) SHINN, 98, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, in Indianapolis, Ind. Born May 12, 1920, in Dixon, Ohio, she was the daughter of Floyd and Florence (Clem) Carrier. After graduating from Convoy High School she moved with her family to Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1940. She married Richard K. "Dick" Shinn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Shinn. While Dick served in World War II, Dottie worked at the General Electric Co. and upon his return she became a homemaker and an exceptional mother. Dottie is survived by her daughter, Linda Jane Shinn of Indianapolis; son, Richard Gale Shinn of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and two brothers, Paul and Ralph Carrier. There will be no visitation or funeral services for Dottie. Burial will be private at Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be directed to the , or American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
