FRED JOHN HUSTON JR., 89, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, in Bowling Green, Ky. Born in Muskegon, Mich., he was the son of the late Fred John Huston and Sadie (Borg man) Huston. Fred graduated from Michigan Technological University with his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a mechanical engineer with International Harvester for 30 years until his retirement. He then moved to North Carolina to work with M.A.N. Truck and Bus Company and Thomas Built Busses in High Point, N.C. Fred was a lifetime member of Society of Automotive Engineers (S.A.E.) He was a man of strong faith, being a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and currently a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point, N.C. where he was a devoted choir member. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. and White Sands, N.M. He was an avid automotive enthusiast and enjoyed music very much. Fred was a very charitable man and a long-time supporter of The American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 years, Jacqueline Huston of Bowling Green, Ky.; loving son and caring and devoted daughter-in-law, William J. (Cathie) Huston of Bowling Green, Ky; son-in-law, Jeffrey J. Finkelstein; five grandsons, Matthew P. (Erika Densmore) Huston of Fort Wayne, Jay A. (Morgan) Finkelstein of Harrisburg, N.C., Robert M. (Amoreena) Swick of West Richland, Wash., James A. (Aleshia) Swick of Tumwater, Wash., and Jeremy A. (Nicole) Swick of Fort Wayne; and 12 great-grandchildren. Fred was also preceded in death by daughter, Sandra Lynn Finkelstein; and one great-granddaughter. Service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with one hour of calling prior to the service. Calling also from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Ind.
