GEORGE J. OGG, 56, of Columbia City, passed away on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a local guitar performer and teacher for over 30 years. He lived in California from 1980 to 1988 with his wife and children, where he was also a professional musician. He had hundreds of students over his long entertainment and teaching career. He was also a musical volunteer at area churches. He was on staff at Emmanuel Lutheran Church for the 5 p.m. church services. Surviving are his wife, Christina Ogg of Columbia City; children, Eric G. Ogg of Fort Wayne, Kirsten C. Ogg of Columbia City and Natalie (Brad) Crossland of Fort Wayne; and brother, James R. Ogg Jr. of Pierson, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Ralph" and Miriam Helen Ogg. Service is noon Tuesday at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6318 West California Road, with Pastor Bill Mueller officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at D.O.
