HAROLD R. "B.B." "BUD" BLAUVELT, 88, of Monroeville, died on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, 2:31 a.m., at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born June 12, 1924, of Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Harold A. Blauvelt and Edna (Lenington) Nord. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a Corporal. He was a tank gunner in the 8th Armored Divison. He fought in the 'Battle of the Bulge' and received three bronze stars. He married Carolyn M. Beauchot on June 29, 1946; she survives. They had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in June of 2012. He was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville and had served as an usher for the church. He was a member of the V.F.W. 10205 where he was Commander in 1992; the American Legion Post 420 in Monroeville and it's Color Guard; and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club at G.E. and the G.E. Fire Department. He was a graduate of Monroeville High School Class of 1942. He retired in 1985 after 43 years as a Tool Maker with General Electric, Fort Wayne. "He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was dedicated to his family. He proudly served his country and enjoyed going to Army reunions." Surviving are his wife, Carolyn M. Blauvelt of Monroeville; sons, Mike (Kathy) Blauvelt of New Haven, Jack A. (Theresa) Blauvelt of Monroeville, Edward J. Blauvelt of Fort Wayne, Thomas R. (Laura) Blauvelt and Chris A. (Julie) Blauvelt, both of Monroeville; daughters, Diane K. Schane of Monroeville, Barbara L. Blauvelt of Fort Wayne, Beth A. (Neal) Rothgeb, Joan L. (Keith) Bultemeier, and Patricia M. (Dan) Foster, all of Monroeville, and Carol L. Blauvelt of Fort Wayne; half sister, Carolyn Stevens of Scott, Ohio; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was also preceded in death by a half sister, Hilda Boren. A prayer service is 1:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville. Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at St. Rose Catholic Church. Fr. Lourdino Fernandes officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 8 p.m. Burial in St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville, with military graveside services held by the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of Monroeville. Preferred to Masses to the church; Monroeville EMS; or St. Joseph Catholic School Tuition Assistance Program.
