HELEN LOUISE FLAUDING MILLER, 93, of Southgate, Mich., went home to the arms of Jesus on Monday, June 11, 2018, at her home. Reunited with her husband of 56 years, C. Glen Miller; he preceded her in death in 2007. Born March 9, 1925, at home in Portland, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Frederick G. (1981) and Viola Baughman Flauding (1972). Helen played the piano from the age of five and taught piano most of her adult life in Portland, Pennville, Fort Wayne, and Fremont. Helen graduated in 1943 from Portland High School. She grew up in the Trinity United Methodist (EUB) Church, transferring to Pennville (United) Methodist Church after her marriage to Glen Miller on June 9, 1951. Helen worked as a bookkeeper in Fort Wayne for Dick Stehl Electric and Plumbing for many years, and had been a telephone operator in Portland during World War II, the REMC, the office at Weiler's. She was a member of the Portland Music Club and later a life member of the Orland American Legion Auxiliary. Before her retirement, she attended beauty school with her daughter Robin. Helen leaves behind three daughters, Sharon L. (Steve) Forbes of Indianapolis, Sandra A. (Mark) Radvanyi of Amherstburg, Ontario, and Robin E. (Virgil) Long of Accident, Md.; three granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; cousins, Nancy Swingley and Jackie Baughman, both of Portland, and extended family in Winchester, Portland, Ridgeville, and Whitley County. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Max, in Portland, in 1966. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Williamson, Spencer & Penrod Funeral Home, Portland, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
