JAMES HENRY CRANDAL, 93, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Lutheran Life Villages - Anthony Blvd., in Fort Wayne. He was a native and lifetime resident of Fort Wayne. James was a local farmer from 1946 to 1958 and then worked in the maintenance department, with S.W.A.C. Schools for 38 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church. James was a volunteer at Lutheran Life Villages with over 500 hours of community service. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife and traveling. Surviving are his loving wife of 74 years, Hazel Elizabeth Crandal of Fort Wayne; children, Sylvia A. (Robert) Jones of Fort Wayne, James A. (Eileen) Crandal of Roanoke, Ind., and Rick L. (Kathy) Crandal of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his father, Ira A. Crandal; mother, Romana Clark; daughter, Becky; four brothers, and four sisters. Service is 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at the funeral home.
