JOHN J. RAFFETY, 95, of Fort Wayne, formerly of White Hall, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, 6:15 a.m., at Miller's Merry Manor, Huntington. Born June 16, 1925, in Jacksonville, Ill., he was the son of John W. and Lenna (Cawthon) Raffety. John attended Greene County Schools and then worked as a forklift operator at Mobil Oil Corporation until his retirement. Following retirement he enjoyed managing the Greene County Golf Course. Outside of work, John could be found hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing. During his golfing years he attained two holes in one. John truly loved his family and shared countless memorable times with them and his many friends. He will be deeply missed by all. Survivors include his son, Francis E. "Joe" Raffety; stepson Maurice (Debbie) Nash; six grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, David Ray Raffety; and wife, Doris E. Raffety, in 1995. In accordance with the wishes of John, a private family service will be held at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Wrights, Ill., at a later date.
