MICHAEL A. HARDIEK SR., 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital. Born Dec. 21, 1947 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Edward and Eileen (Young) Hardiek. Mike attended North Side High School and retired from NIPSCO after 36 years of service. He was a proud United Steel Workers union member and was currently working in customer service at Sycamore Hills Golf Club. He enjoyed golf, spending time with friends and family and cruising with his late wife, Anna. He is survived by his children, Christine (Gary) Bultemier of New Haven, Michael A. (Shannon) Hardiek, Jr., Marcus (Amy) Hardiek, Andrew (Andrea) Hardiek, Nicholas (Rosa) Hardiek, and Norman (Theresa Fagan) Hardiek, all of Fort Wayne; brother, David (Karen) Hardiek of Angola; sisters, Brenda McCart of New Haven and Sharon Klunk of Grand Island, Fla.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Hardiek in 2017; his son, Christopher Vebert; sister, Linda Bloemker Pick; brothers-in-law, Dick McCart and Bob Klunk. Visitation is from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, with a time of remembrance at 3:30 p.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46804).
