MICHEL R. STURM DDS, 70, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Randallia, Fort Wayne, surrounded by his family. Michel was born Nov. 2, 1947, in Parris Isle, S.C. The eldest of nine children, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Patricia A Sturm. He earned his BS in Biology and Chemistry at Xavier University, 1969. DDS at Indiana University, 1973. He practiced Dentistry in Fort Wayne for 43 years. He was the founder of Pathways Inc. (crisis center for youth); recipient of the Silver Beaver award, Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America; Service to Mankind award, Sertoma International; served on the executive committee of the Anthony Wayne Area council and was past president; was a volunteer Santa Claus for Fort Wayne Philharmonic; trustee and chairman of the student affairs committee at University of St. Francis; President of the Anthony Wayne Area Council of Boy Scouts of America; volunteer for CASA, Fellow American and International College of Dentists; and a member of the Academy Operative Dentistry, American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, Isaac Knapp Dental Society, Rotary (Paul Harris fellow). In his spare time, he enjoyed painting, reading, sculpturing in stone, daily mass and telling a good joke. Michel is survived by his children, Kelly J. Sturm Summers, Andrew R. (Missy) Sturm, Abbey K. (Clint) Knoblauch, Cassie R. (Matt) Kortenber, Chas M. (Liz) Sturm and Vincent M. (Mandee) Munoz; and 15 grandchildren. Michel was also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Diana Jo (Anderson) Sturm; sister, Sharon (Sturm) Kaseric; brother, Joseph Sturm; and an infant girl. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
