NAOMI M. GEORGE, 97, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne. Born Jan. 21, 1921, in Garrett, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Frances (Lasch) Newman. Naomi married Robert George on Aug. 9, 1941, in Garrett; he passed away in 1983. Naomi was a homemaker. She attended First Church of Christ in Garrett. She was a volunteer for the Heimach Center in Auburn and was a former Girl Scout leader. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sharon George of Auburn; two daughters, Martha George and Reeta George, both of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Mark (Sheri) George of Auburn, Michael (Amy) George of Angola, Shawn Harlan and Christy (John) Vahlberg, both of California, Emily (John) Pratt and Suzanne Robertson, both of Arkansas, and Elaine Spradlin of Minnesota.; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Marjory and Harold Powell of Craigville; and son-in-law, Joseph Spradlin of Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Spradlin; brothers, Delmar Newman and Walter Newman; and sister, Eleanor Borton. A graveside service is 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Roselawn Cemetery, 1395 Center St., Auburn, with Jerry Weller officiating.
