PATRICIA "PAT" BEALL, 101, a long time resident of Indianapolis, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017. Born Oct. 26, 1916, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of Charles G. And Myrtle W. Beall. Her formative years were spent in Fort Wayne where she attended South Side High School. She continued her education at Duke University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in 1938. Following her graduation from Duke, she gained employment as a research assistant for the Indianapolis Works Project Administration (WPA) after which she became a Welfare Visitor for the Allen County Department of Public Welfare in Fort Wayne. At the onset of World War II, she was appointed as a Red Cross volunteer serving for three years in England, France and Germany. She ultimately landed in Indianapolis where she pursued her Master's degree in Social Work from Indiana University in Indianapolis. After receiving her degree, she was employed as Director of the Social Service Department at Indiana University Medical Center. Subsequently, she led a successful teaching career for 23 years as a professor at Indiana University School of Social Work. She lived a long and full life, actively playing golf and tennis into her senior years. Passionate about social causes, political issues, and current events, she maintained her mental acuity and sense of curiosity well into her 90's. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Porter "Mike" Beall; and sister, Barbara Beall (Hanna). Arrangements entrusted to Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple.
