RALPH JOSEPH MEEKS SR., 88, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Park Place Senior Living in Fort Wayne. Born Jan. 3, 1930, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of birth father, Joseph Meeks and mother, Nellie (Miller) Green. He was raised by his stepfather, Edward Green and his mother in Fort Wayne. Ralph was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, and graduated from Central High School in 1948. After high school, he joined the Marine Corps Reserve and was immediately sent to Korea after basic training. After serving in the Marine Corps, he worked for the Northern Indiana Public Service Company as a serviceman, retiring in 1991. Ralph married Sharon Lee Liddy in 1953 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. They were happily married for 49 years. Ralph was a member of the choir at St. Peter's for many years with his wife, Sharon. Ralph is survived by his sons, David A. (Martine) of Spencerville, Ralph "Joe" (Amy) of Churubusco and Michael E. (Jennifer) of Grabill; daughters, Karen M. (Jeff Sr.) Fletcher of Fort Wayne and Cynthia A. (William) Roy of Yoder; sisters, Darlene Gourley of Hookstown, Pa., and Eunice Powers of Butler; and brothers, Clifford "Skip" Green of Navarre, Fla., and John Meeks of Charlotte, N.C.; 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 1 soon to be expected great-great-grandchild. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, in 2002; mother and fathers; daughter, Angela J. Browning; sons, Christopher L. and Phillip A.; brothers, Donald Meeks, Edward Green and Jack Green; and sister, Dolores Mitchell. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. -Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with calling a half hour before service. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Tom Mongovan Funeral Home, 2221 S. Calhoun St., with a Rosary service at 6 p.m. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery.
