RAYMOND OMERI PARKER, 71, of LaOtto, Ind., died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018. Born April 17, 1947, in Garrett, Ind., he was a son of Don E. and Alvah M. (Swander) Parker. Ray married Karen Kae Houser on June 12, 1971 in LaOtto, Ind. He worked in the repair department at Dana Spicer Axel in Fort Wayne for 30 years, retiring in 2000. Ray was a Navy Vietnam veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Daniel Webster and on nuclear submarines. Ray was a member of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club, Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, National Threshing Association, Maumee Valley Antique Gas & Steam Association, and he was a supporter of Swan Township 4-H and was an avid collector of antique cars and tractors. Ray is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Kae Parker of LaOtto, Ind.; two daughters, Jennifer (Christopher) Duerk of LaOtto, Ind., and Amanda (Eric Svenson) Parker of Ringwood, Ill.; three brothers, Gary Parker, James Parkerand Allen Parker; a sister, Jane Beverly; and two grandchildren, Allison Duerk of Marshall, Ill., and Parker Duerk ofLaOtto, Ind. Service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 CR 56, Garrett, Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial is 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Bethlehem Cemetery, in rural LaOtto on Swan Road, with military graveside rites conducted by the United States Navy and the Garrett American Legion and V.F.W.
