RICHARD J. SAGER SR., 92, of Auburn, Ind., died Wednesday, July 11, 2018, 8:15 p.m., at The Cedars - Leo, Ind. Born Aug. 24, 1925, in Maumee, Ohio, he was a son of the late Clarence and Georgia Sager. He married Katheryn J. Zelt on Jan. 10, 1948; she died on April 20, 2011. Richard was a graduate of Maumee High School, Maumee, Ohio, and received his Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in 1949. Richard served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He went on to a long career with Central Soya in Fort Wayne, retiring in 1985 as Chief Financial Officer. Richard also was active in volunteer work with the Heimach Center, The Arc of Fort Wayne, Senior Corps of Retired Executives, and the Northeastern Center. He was a member of the Garrett Presbyterian Church. Richard is survived by four sons, Richard (Patricia) Sager Jr. of Carleton, Mich., Mike (Sandee) Sager of Auburn, Ind., Jack Sager of Huntertown, Ind., and Steve (Angie) Sager of Batavia, Ohio; and five grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his four brothers and three sisters. Service is 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, Ind., with calling one hour prior. The Rev. William Haworth officiating. Visitation also from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at Thomas Funeral Home. Burial in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Auburn, Ind.
