ROGER GUMP, 72, of Huntertown, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Fla. Born June 6, 1948, he was a son of Elvin "Andy" and Elfrieda (Ehmke) Gump. He graduated from Huntertown High School, Class of 1967. Roger proudly served in the United States Air Force. Roger was married to Judy Kirby in Wabash, in 1969. The couple enjoyed summers at Adam's Lake and winters in Dunedin, Fla. He retired from General Electric as a process development specialist. Roger devoted his life to service. He was a loyal member of the Huntertown Fire Department where he served as a firefighter and was one of the first EMT's in the area. Roger also served as the Perry Township Trustee for 32 years. He served as a board member for Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, Aging and In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana, REMC Operation Roundup and Perry Township. Roger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Gump; his son, Greg (Amber) Gump; daughter, Amy (Vince) Passino; two brothers, Jerry (Rebecca) Gump and Tim (Mary) Gump; a sister-in-law, Cindy Gump; and four grandchildren, Emma, Jakob, Hallie and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Tom Gump. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Huntertown Chapel, 16830 Lima Road, Huntertown, with Military Funeral Honors following.
