JOVON C. HARVEY SR., 44, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. He was born on June 15, 1969, in Fort Wayne. He was a 1987 graduate of R. Nelson Snider High School and attended Ball State University on a football scholarship. Jovon was very faithful to his church, Greater Mount Ararat, Pastor Ernest Starks, and a servant of God. He was a kind, giving person, who loved his family. Through one of his restaurants, he held multiple annual back to school and holiday events providing free school supplies, free clothing, free food, free haircuts and turkeys for families. He sponsored several baseball teams and provided employment to many. Surviving are his sons, Brandon J. Harvey and Jovon C. Harvey Jr.; daughters, Jaelyn D. Harvey, Jasmine J. Harvey, Jovashanae J. Harvey, and Whit'Ne M. Harvey; mother, Essie Bass; father, Ollie (Pearline) Harvey Jr.; brothers, Charles (Sonya) Corey and Ollie Harvey II; sisters, Denise Harvey, Aleatha Harvey and Carmen Harvey; granddaughter, Kyndal D. Harvey; special niece, Keondra Harvey; special daughters, Kiara Kizer and Jazlan Lynch; special nephews, Khristopher Harvey and Kacey Harvey; special friend, Shalonda Tabron; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, JocQuale J. Harvey; brother, Richard Harvey; sisters, Lisa Carter, Deondra Griggs and Kasondra Harvey; and grandfathers, Lorenzo Corey and Ollie C. Harvey Sr. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Ararat, with visitation two hours prior. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Carmichael Funeral Service.
