Gabriel Richard MacConaill Obituary
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Gabriel Richard MacConaill died by suicide Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Los Angeles California. Gabriel was born on March 21, 1976 in Exeter, N.H.

Gabriel grew up in Dover, graduating from Dover High in 1994. Gabriel was a member of the DHS band. Trumpet was his instrument. After attending George Washington University in DC, Gabriel graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2002 and then from the Dickinson School of Law in 2005.

After passing the bar in Delaware, he worked with the Potter Anderson Carron Law firm. After five years in Wilmington, Del., he and his brilliant and beautiful partner, Joanna Litt, headed for Los Angeles California, where Joanna had grown up and has close family. Sidley Austin Law firm welcomed Gabe and eventually he became a partner there.

My beautiful boy, our beautiful boy, our husband, our brother, our nephew, our cousin, our friend, our colleague, our uncle, our brother-in-law, a member of the human race Gabriel was a remarkable person, an excellent attorney, an expert on wine and a gourmet in the truest sense of the word. He cooked, he skied, played soccer and loved to travel. Gabriel had a wonderful wry sense of humor. He was kind. He did his research, when he wanted to know something he dug deep. He also had great style, even in track pants he looked "dressed". Good shoes, good watches, good shirts; cufflinks!

Gabriel is survived by his parents, Susan Treleaven and Stephen Blakney; his wife Joanna Mae Litt; his brother Noah Blakney and his wife Leslie Blakney and their daughter Emma Grace. Gabe leaves a very special aunt, Joy Shaffer Burke and her husband, Michael "Nurse Burke" Burke; his beloved niece Olivia Litt; his sister in-law Amanda Litt; his mother in-law Sherry Litt; plus a veritable plethora of aunts, uncles, and cousins, cousins, cousins. Gabriel was the son of the late Hilary D. MacConaill and Susan Treleaven.

SERVICES: A Celebration and Remembrance of Gabe's life will be held at 2 p.m. on November 18, 2018, at South Church, Unitarian Universalist Church of Portsmouth, 292 State St., Portsmouth, NH 03801.
