Jean Smith

1938 - 2015

Mrs. Jean Audrey Smith, 76, of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the long time companion of Douglas Sanbower. Born in Jefferson, on October 4, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Boyd Watson and Mary Catherine Hale Mohler.

She worked for many years as a seamstress at Sagner's, Claire Frock in Thurmont and retired from H. L. Hartz and Company. She was a member of the Doubs United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her sons, Robert E. Mohler, Sr., and fiancee, Rachel Osterhaus, of Rocky Ridge, and Marion E. Smith, Jr., and fiancee, Maryann Allen, of Frederick, three sisters, Kay Frances Winters, of Lucketts, VA, Patsy Ann Burkehead, of Stockton and Connie June Hurst, of Frederick, six grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Benjamin and William, Robert E. Mohler, Jr., and Amanda, Kenneth Niblett, Charles Niblett, Ashley Daughtery and Crystal Niblett, 10 great grandchildren, Devon, Kelby, Lane, Michael, Skylar, Chaz, Markis, Jordananne, Kadin and Madison, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Mohler and two brothers, Robert E. Mohler and James W. Mohler.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, January 23, 2015, at the funeral home. The Rev. James Ridout, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Pallbearers will be; Robert E. Mohler, Sr., Marion E.. Smith, Jr., Robert E. Mohler, Jr., Jeff Sanbower, Charles Niblett and William Benjamin.
