Richard Spangler Obituary

Richard Leroy Spangler, 84 of Wolfsville died Thursday, October 25, 2012 at his home.

Born July 18, 1928 in Middleburg, PA., he was the son of the late Howard W. and Clara I. Burger Spangler.

Richard was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wolfsville; the Elks Lodge #378, Hagerstown; Wolfsville Ruritan Club; South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Smithsburg and a charter member of The WolfsvilleVolunteerFire Company.

He retired from Pangborn Corp., Hagerstown after many years of service as a welder. Richard was very proud to have been chosen to be a welder on the Alaska Pipe Line.

Surviving Richard is his wife Martha Grace Leatherman Spangler; three children, Barbara Webb and husband Dannie, Fayetteville, PA., Karen Bowyer and husband Jim and Paul Spangler and wife Darlene all of Wolfsville; five grandchildren, Laura Clem, Andrea Haugh, Shawn Bowyer, Jason Bowyer and Whitney Spangler; fourgreat grandchildren, Chelsea and Connor Clem and Brett and Elysabeth Haugh; two brothers, Ray Spangler and Bill Spangler and wife Ruth and one sister, Mary Fahrney.

Preceding Richard in death were two brothers, Guy Spangler and Paul Spangler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 3, 2012 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wolfsville with Pastor David Howell officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville, Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 5:30 to 8 PM.

The funeral home will be open for visitation beginning at 12 noon on Thursday.

The family request the OMISSION OF FLOWERS, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701 or St. Mark's Luthern Church, c/o Audrey Wolfe, 12704 Wolfsville Road, Smithsburg, MD 21783.
