Dale Kenneth Sanders, 18, born July 6, 1996 in Frederick, MD, passed away at home on July 26, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. After a 6 year battle with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Dale went from his earthly home and entered the eternal kingdom. Dale is survived by his parents, Nancy and Gregg; siblings, Kyle and Claudia; and sister-in-law, Kate. He has numerous family and friends.

Dale graduated from Tuscarora High School in 2014 with highest honors. He was a proud member of the marching band where he played trumpet, and the National Honor Society. In December 2013 he earned the scouting's highest rank, Eagle Scout. He loved Camp Sunrise, a camp for kids with cancer, and made sure everything in the summer was planned around camp. Dale excelled in school but especially loved Latin, history and math. He was accepted into Lebanon Valley College where he had planned to study actuarial science. Dale cheered for the Ravens and rooted for the Caps. He was always up for his favorite food, steak, and would eat it whenever possible.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. A Celebration of Dale's Life will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 1 at Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8949 Indian Springs Rd., Frederick, MD 21702. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Believe in Tomorrow Children's Foundation, www.believeintomorrow.org or Stillbrave Childhood Cancer Foundation, www.stillbrave.org.

Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.staufferfuneralhome.com.

my son, matt, went to heaven when he was 9, 16 years ago. it took me around 3 years to accept and learn to live without him here. not a day i dont think of him, sweet and bitter sweet memories remain in my heart. and knowing far in the future i will one day see him again. my love and prayers heading your way.

What an incredible young man. I'll always remember him as the vibrant young soccer player I had the pleasure of coaching. My heart breaks for the Sanders but I take solace in knowing that Dale is with his Creator in the best place he could ever be. May God's peace be upon you Nancy, Gregg, Claudia, and Kyle. I did not know Dale, however when his photo flashed across my facebook page I felt compelled to send you a condolence note. What caught my eye was your sons smile. His smile appears to be not only contagious , but also a marker as to the kind of person he must have been.
I am so very sorry for your monumental loss. A parent should never have to bury a child, it goes against the natural order of things. Their is no greater loss and no more inconsolable pain, than that of losing ones child. As a parent we watch over our children from the moment our eyes meet at the time of their birth. We follow them around trying to shield them from injury, catch them before they fall and console them when the inevitable scratch breaks the skin or a bruise appears. It is our job to keep them safe and in the event of something happening which is out of our control, we tend to still assume that we should have done more, been more aware or just have some how prevented the unpredictable. Our children our a gift from God and unfortunately in some instances the gift is only on loan for a brief time. I guess what I am trying to say is that sometimes we have no answers as to why bad things happen to good people, we can not understand why God would give us such a beautiful gift only to snatch it back again. What I do know is that there is a heaven and that I am certain that Dale with his joyful soul which shines so brightly through his smiling eyes is there waiting for all of you whom he loves, and who love him. In those late night evenings when the quiet night brings with it the grief of loss, remember to speak to Dale for he will be there by your side trying to comfort you and ease your pain and suffering. He is not gone , he just a bit out of your reach. Stretch your arms wide open each night and allow him to hug you goodnight, he will always be with you. I pray God will ease your burden in time, and will give you peace and show you mercy in the coming days ahead.

We lost our Kevin in March and the pain will never go away to bury your child but have faith there are a lot of people out there to try to help you and your family get through this hard time. Above & beyond Dale being strong & determined during the 6 years he dealt w/ Leukemia he was a nice, kind, thoughtful & polite young man who any parent would be proud to claim as their child. He was an inspiration to many, was loved by many & will be remembered by many forever. RIP Dale Kenneth Sanders.

Dale sat next to me in biology class. I was always ready to answer and was fun to talk to when conversations sparked between us. I knew from from bio and seeing him in the d-wing, the arts hall. I knew he was a great trumpet player and some of the great things I remember is him playing trumpet at Disney World and his smile that he always carried with him.

I will miss his radiant smile, it made his face absolutely glow. I remember after the first bout when his hair started growing out again and it was so soft. Every Sunday he would come up to me and put his head down so I could rub his hair. He was a special young man and he will be missed by many.
