He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes, and playing cards. For many years, he attended Frederick Keys baseball games as part of the "Mt. Airy Gang" and traveled with the Diakonia Travel Group. He loved watching the Orioles, Ravens and the Redskins.

For many years, Floyd enjoyed canning foods, including his famous sauerkraut. His favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch, waving to passersby, and counting cars as they drove past his home. He also enjoyed relaxing in his recliner with his four-legged friends, Rusty and Precious.
