Judith Drum Obituary

Judith M. Drum, 75, of Middletown, Maryland passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday December 18, 2016 at Kline Hospice House. Born on November 26, 1941 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Virginia and Nathaniel M. Williams. Judy is survived by four children; son Darrin Drum and wife Jodie, step-son Dale Drum and wife Wendy, step-daughter Sherry Burtner and husband Charley, and step-daughter Susan Johnson and husband Mike, 13 grandchildren; Carrie and Samantha Drum, Andy, Shannon and Megan Drum, Dawn Moody and husband Jim, Steven Motosicky and wife Hollie, Stephanie Biser and husband Scott, Jennifer Biser and husband Joey, Jason Johnson and wife Tracey, Jennifer Gatz and husband Shawn, Becky White and husband Todd, and Matthew Johnson and wife Natalie, more than 20 great-grandchildren, and 10 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brothers; Nathaniel C. Williams, Jerry Williams and wife Shirley, and Lawrence Williams and wife Cathy. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas B. Drum, two sisters-in-law; Rebecca Williams and Judy Williams, nephew Nathanial Williams, grandchild Adam Drum, and great-grandchild Madeline Motosicky. Judy will be remembered by special friends Avadna Coghill of Frederick, Laurie Mills of Thurmont, Wanda Zink of Boonsboro, and many other sorority sisters.

Judy retired from Frederick County Public Schools after 32 years of teaching in 1999. She enjoyed baking and spending time with her family after retirement. She was an avid reader, and a strong leader in her Alpha Delta Kappa teachers' sorority. Judy enjoyed traveling, especially to New Mexico where she participated in her brother Jerry's Southwest institutes.

A celebration of life will be held at Frederick Church of the Brethren on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM with pastor Tim Shatzer officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Hospice of Frederick County 516 Trail Ave. PO Box 1799 Frederick, MD 21702; the local ADK Upsilon chapter c/o Jackie DeWitt 8914 Mountainberry Circle Frederick, MD 21702; or to brain tumor research at www.braintumor.org.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had Mrs Drum for 6th grade English in 1981. She was a wonderful teacher and person.

Judy was a special lady.
When I saw her during my teaching career, it was like we had just talked a short time before. We would laugh, and enjoy seeing each other. I will miss her very much.
