I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Miss Sprow. Growing up in the Fredericksburg school system, I know she touched many students lives including mine. I would be filled with, "but Miss Sprow I don't want to's" and she would just as calmly talk me down and I'd be on my way. Praying for the comfort and healing of her family. You will be missed!!

Mrs. Sprow was one of the nicest and most pleasant person whom I have ever met. I was privileged to become a part of her extended family when her daughter Lateefah Muhammad and I became best friends and roommates at then Hampton Institute. Even when she learned of our antics -to put it mildly, Mrs. Sprow still had kind words for us as she scolded us on our behavior. She was truly a gem! Rest in peace, our dear Mama Sprow.

So many fond memories from my childhood with Aunt Grace. Going over to her house for cookouts, eating crabs on the patio, having my 2nd Thanksgiving Day dinner, Princess running around barking, stealing some of Uncle Tommy's cashews, watching the Redskins play, and that delicious 7-Up cake! It was always a fun time. I would often see unfamiliar faces, but would just assume they must be family because that was the way Aunt Grace made everyone feel, like they were a part of the family. We love you and we miss you.

Words were difficult to come by when I saw the notice of Grace's passing . Her name alone describes her well. I was privileged to have worked with her at Walker-Grant for many years. She had without a doubt, the kindest, gentlest soul of anyone I have ever known. She loved all children, and they in return, loved her. Grace will always live on in our hearts and memories. Blessings to all.

My sincere condolences to the family. My late husband Dr. Stacy Lloyd, had such love and respect for her. grace was always so kind to everyone. Her contribution to Fredericksburg will be remembered for her generous gift of her time to care about the people whose lives she touched. She made Fredericksburg a better place. What a great loss for her family and friends, but Grace certainly “fought the good fight and kept the faith.”

My Aunt Grace was a very special part of my childhood. She was a loving and oh so nurturing gentle spirit. As my Brownie leader, and later at Ann Hamrick House, she taught us many things. Most importantly, she was a visible example of kindness, caring and responsibility, right there for us to see. Stopping by her house after school to play with my cousins was a normal thing. I was always welcomed with a smile and a hug. This is a huge loss for the many villages of which she was a part. I am especially sorry for the many children who will miss the love and wisdom she so generously shared with everyone. Aunt Gracie, your rest is well earned. I know you are at peace and glorying in your place near the Throne.

It's hard to find the words to describe how I'm feeling right now. A part of me is sad & lonely but then there's that part of me that's rejoicing because I know God has welcomed His angel, Mama Grace, back to heaven. I'm thankful He loaned her to us for a while to learn what loving, caring & giving was all about. Mama Grace was that lady who accepted us as we were...no judgment. She didn't try to change us. She just wanted to help us, guide us, teach us. She's someone who's soooooo special that she can never be forgotten. Like my Pop always said, "I'm just a phone call away". Keeping "our" family in prayer. Love always, Pam Johnson
