Clinton Township - Thomas Rodgers of Clinton Township died Tuesday after a brief illness. He was 79. A father of three who loved to travel and sing in a Polish choir, Rodgers was born in Detroit. He graduated from Wayne State University with a business degree and married Christine Jesielkiewicz in 1962. He was a sales manager, first in pharmaceuticals and later natural gasses, working for Scott's Specialty Gasses. Outside of work, he loved boating and was the former Commodore of the Y-Knot Boat Club. He traveled all over the world and played the saxophone and clarinet. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Christine. He is survived by daughters Terry Krauss (Steve) and Cyndi Niccolai (Brian); son Jeff (Anne); beloved companion MaryAnn Blaska; and brother Richard (Linda). He leaves behind seven grandchildren: Carl Krauss (Katie), Brian Krauss (Kayla), April Niccolai, and Jefferson, Jordan, Rosalie and Rocco Rodgers. He also is survived by two great grandchildren, Claire and Kyle, and nieces, Emma and Mae. A funeral viewing will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. Friday at Wujek Calcaterra Funeral Home, 36900 Schoenherr in Sterling Heights, with a memorial service at 11:30.
