Dear Tracey and family
I was so sorry to hear of Norman's death and would like to send you my deepest condolences. The last time I saw Norman was at his dad's funeral. He was so proud of his girls and the life you had built together. He was always so much fun to talk to and it did not seem like we hadn't seen each other in such a very long time.. We will all miss him dearly and hope that your memories of the wonderful person he was will always be with you.
I remember going to Europe with Norman and his family through the Friederich Schiller Schule Summer trips, twice along with my sister. We all worked hard to be able to go along and had the best time with a large group of students, aged 10 through 18. It was so much fun, singing out the windows of the train corridors, staying at youth hostels and seeing so many wonderful sights all through Germany and France with the group members, who became more like a family on this extended vacation together. Now when I take my students to Europe, I always marvel how Frau Guschewski did all the planning before the advent of the computer and email.
Since my mom also taught at the German school, where we all spent many a Saturday, we got to visit the Guschewski family home for a weiner roast about once a year. We were all in love with the dachshund puppies and had great time roaming through the woods on the way to the fire pit for the roast.
We will keep you in our thoughts and sorrow with you in this loss to your family.
Sincerely,
Rosemarie Tossell (nee Sator)

Dear Tracy, Emma, Chloe and families:
So shocked to hear. I am so very sorry for your loss, and send my deepest condolences.
I have fond memories of Norman from our days at the Friedrich Schiller school, the memorable excursions to Germany and countless enjoyable times at the summer place. He was always great company, keen at card games, always smiling and basically game for anything. I will always remember his great skill and fearlessness maneuvering the kayak in the rough waves on Georgian Bay. He always had funny jokes to tell and always listened to and laughed at the jokes of others (even if truthfully, they weren't as funny his). He had the gift of knowing how to make others feel at ease and good about themselves.
As funny and fun-loving as he could be, Norman had his serious side too. He was hard-working, determined and focused. He dreamed big, and followed his dreams. He took his sports seriously, excelling especially in the über-sport of all Canadian boys--hockey. Fittingly, he penned a piece for the Friedrich Schiller school magazine of 2002, in his impeccable German, entitled "Deutsch in meinem Leben ' (German in my life) in which details how his command of German helped carve out his career path. He also contrasted his dreams of a pro-sports career with the reality of his career in management, concluding the piece, perhaps unwittingly, using what may have been his life's credo, the oft-used German adage "Träumen dürfen wir Alle!" (We're all entitled to dream).
And, as hard-working as he was, Norman had a warm and sensitive side. I remember his doting on his pet Dackel "Jenny" and his preferred favorite never-take-it-off hoodie with a number "77" (the significance of which, though, I never knew) all from his teen years. When he grew up, he married the love of his life, and together they raised two lovely daughters.
I can not begin to imagine your grief and sense of loss, I can only express that I share some of your sorrow.

Dear Tracy, Emma and Chloe and family, we are so deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Norm. We have such fond memories that our families shared in our years in Germany together. Your beautiful family, the deep love you share and the love and zest for life that you all enjoyed together ...we are all heart-broken for a life taken way too early. Norman I go way back. I will always remember him with the crazy hair and always smiling when you walk past him. Always dress as a professional never casual. He and his family will forever be in my prayers. A life taken way to early. He still had so much to offer with this personality and the way he could take control of any situation.
Thank you Norm.
God Bless

Norm was a part of our golf group. Many great times at our annual LDOG and on the golf trips up north and to Oregon. If you asked any of the guys about him the response would be "Norm? Great guy". Time with Norm, on and off the course, was always a lot of fun and a lot of laughs. Plus he had an awesome Rod Stewart looking haircut. He spoke often of the love and pride he had for his girls and for Tracy.
Norm is gone way too soon and will be greatly missed. RIP and we'll see you further up the road.
