Clinton Twp - March 6, 2018 Age 83. Beloved husband of Diana. Loving father of Dr. John P. Jr. (Dina), Julia Ferris, Molly (Todd) Mosher, Dr. Andrew (Yvette), James (Cassidy), and step-son Jason (Kristina) Cobb. Proud grandfather of Jacob, Amelia, Charlie, Sydney Belle, Anna Grace, Claire, Gillian, Evan, and Lucas. Dear brother of Tony (Audrey) Ferris, and Mike (Helen) Ferarolis. Visitation Friday 3-9pm. Funeral Saturday 11am at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd). Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics Foundation in support of Dr. Ferris' life long dedication to osteopathic orthopedic education. Dr Ferris was one of the few men I would realized later how much I truly learned from him, he like my father was born in 1934 & recently passed. I saw & learned life isn't always fair or easy & even if those who are the closest one you trust betray you to never let it change you. That is character & that is what Dr. Ferris had.

It has been 15 years since I was a medical student in Dr. Ferris' operating room where he would quiz us on the basic machines as we learned about orthopedic surgery. He lit up the day he learned I studied classical civilizations and we would discuss the history and mythology of the Greeks, Minoans and Mycenaeans. He was a man who I could literally see eye to eye with and I always enjoyed my time learning from him.

My condolences to his family in their loss. All who knew Dr. Ferris are better for having known him and share a portion of your grief. I pray this Easter season will bring you an extra sense of hope in the resurrection of our Savior and joyful anticipation of the time you will be reunited.

So sorry to hear of his passing. I'll always remember him teaching me ; as a new nurse in the Operating Room at Mt Clemens General Hospital ; how to hold a patient's leg for prepping a total hip surgery. My thoughts go out to his family, he will be truly remembered .

Heart felt sympathies to Molly and Todd Mosher and to the Ferris family. So sorry for your loss.
Doc was truly the best! His brashness in treatment was spot on. "I did my part, now, you do your part".... were words to live by, even 20 years later. Thank you Dr. Ferris!!!! May the lord grant you the peace and comfort that you have provided so many of us with. RIP in peace Dr. John Ferris!

John truly was an inspiration to me. Have known John since I was a resident. We have shared many patients over the years and was always a pleasure to work with. I have had hundreds of interactions with him over the years including lunch and golf and at each other's office always left feeling inspired. A really good man.

My heart is heavy learning of the passing of Dr. Ferris. From being a nanny to his children and being his office manager for 10 years. So many fond memories with the Ferris'. May you rest in peace Dr. Ferris. I was a patient in 2002 and 2004 having both hips replaced. I have thanked God many times since then that our paths crossed. You humbly took no credit for the outcome saying that you were only responsible for the mechanics of the surgery and the rest was my doing. To this day I heed your words to walk, walk, walk and still do so without pain. My most sincere condolences to your family.
