Charles Edward Lishman was born on September 17, 1920, to Lester and Ruby Lishman in Flint, MI. He passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 6, 2018. He was 97 years old. Charles joined the United States Naval Reserve in Long Beach, CA, at the age of 16. He was called to active duty at the age of 20, and assigned to a ship stationed in Pearl Harbor. He stayed in the service another four and a half years. He was the final President of Fresno Chapter 8 Pearl Harbor Survivors, until it closed in December of 2011, as did the National Chapter due to lack of surviving members. The Pearl Harbor Memorial is now part of the National Park Service. Charles worked as head gauger for Union Oil for 31 years before retiring to Meadview, AZ. He was a lover of all "water" activities. Boating, fishing, and waterskiing were loved by the whole family. Charles loved to travel with Dorothy by air, land, and sea, sharing their many adventures with family and friends. They celebrated their seventy seventh anniversary on June 28, 2018. He lived the last 18 years in Coarsegold, CA. Charles was a member of Raymond Community Church. Charles is survived by his loving, faithful wife Dorothy; sons, Terry and his wife Karen, and Gerald and his wife Judi; and daughters, Janet Wammack, and Patricia Danforth. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his "adopted" daughter, Beverley Chojnacky. A Memorial Service will be held at the Yosemite Lakes Park Community Church, 43840 Patrick Avenue, Coarsegold, CA, on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Raymond Community Church Children's Programs, P.O. Box 66, Raymond, CA 93653.
