Dr. Dave Barber, D.C., passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 23, 2018, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 84 years old. Dave was born on February 9, 1934, in Chicago, IL, to Harold David Barber, Sr., and Annalee Seals. An extremely gifted healer, he treated patients at his Chiropractic Wellness Center in Fresno for nearly 50 years. Given his passion for music, he moved to Fresno from San Diego, CA in 1960, and opened the Renaissance Coffee House on Blackstone Avenue, Fresno's first folk music nightly venue. Those who knew him considered him a true Renaissance man. A MENSA member and private pilot whose interests included the healing arts, the mandolin, fine art photography, scuba diving, mountaineering, spelunking and many schools of science, including history, biology, archeology, and geology. He was dedicated to his family, and over the years he took in and supported many strays, and troubled children who were family friends in need. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Michael David Barber, and John Theodore Williams. He is survived by four children, Patricia Barber, Karma Barber and husband Eddie, Sam Williams and wife Cindie, and Jerry Norris; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. No service is planned.
